A blue moon is described as the second full moon in a month - the next will be at the end of July this year. My quilt shows a blue moon as it should be - BLUE.

Moon Landing by Ngaire
I still remember that day in 1969 when they landed on the moon. We kept rushing over to the staffroom to watch it on this small black and white TV and to listen to those famous words by Neil Armstrong. I have a book with the story of their voyage and landing that I use to take to school and read to the senior children whenever we had book week. This image is my attempt to recreate that famous landing on the 20th of July 1969.

Moon over the Mountain by Kerry
Thank you Deb this little quilt was inspired by another friend who featured it in her book "Drunkards Path Stepping Beyond" Cheryl Phillips. It uses the Cut Around tool and is a set in circle. Felt it looked like a wintery sky so added the show with paint. Off to AQC tomorrow so may see one or two of you there.

Puriri Moth
Puriri Moth by Mary for Deb
The large green Puriri Moth is occasionally seen around here.
I always feel lucky when I see one.
My moon piece was coincidentally completed on the night that we had a "Blood Moon" partial eclipse and yes we did get up at 1 am to see it.
Enjoy your quilts Deb

"Moonglow" from Kay H
Hi Deb,
Lovely challenge, the entries are just great!
This moon is as realistic as I could make it.
I used white
cotton, splodged and painted,
using lace as stencils, - then rubbing out the
darker areas to give an eerie shaded look.
The “Outer Space” is a pre-printed
black satin fabric.
Hope you like it...

The
phases of the moon remind me of the tree of life.
