Christmas Kites By Ngaire

Just before Christmas I was in the local supermarket and spotted a box of children's kites. They were only about $6 each and I thought here was something I could add to the stockings for three little people. After the excitement of presents and the usual enormous Christmas lunch we all moved outside. A lovely breeze was blowing and the three grand children along with all the big kids had a great time flying the kites. The best $6 I have spent in a long time! Here we have three little hands flying their kites.

Apologies for the very late making and posting of my flight quilt. I have had the busiest month ever including a dash to Brisbane to look after a grandson with a badly broken arm. Someone had to escape the winter and catch up with family so I very reluctantly volunteered!!
I found some lovely feather fabric and also found this very clever logo on the side of our local buses. Reminds me of a flock of birds or paper aeroplanes. Enjoy

In Flight by Judith

At last I have remained focused long enough to photograph “In Flight” it’s been on the to do list since the beginning of the month.

Lately I've had a rare rush of blood to the head, an urge to ruthlessly clear out cupboards, something best not interrupted because it may never happen again.

I came across some very old Shiva oil paint sticks and was curious to see if they were still viable. Joy of joys they were. “In Flight” is the result of a play day with Shiva sticks. They’re keepers, it was fun.  

It’s so easy to be distracted when you’re trying to be a tidy Kiwi.

Flightless by Mary

Learning to use wool for embroidery has been a fun new project.  I am enjoying my new embroidery book from Sue Spargo and was inspired to try to re create something like her wee birds.
My birds are silk on a wool background as I couldn't wait to start and I had no wool. Have been trawling the second hand shops and now I have a good supply.......
  Of course we do have flightless birds in NZ too, although I don't think these are very realistic!
My next project is an elephant, should be fun.

Each day The Advertiser newspaper includes a Target Master - this one appeared soon after Kay advised the Flight theme.
The aim "How many words of four letters or more can you make from these nine letters? Each letter may be used only once. The centre letter must be included. No slang, foreign or capitalised words, hyphens, apostrophes, or plurals." One word uses all nine letters. The target for this day was
